The AKM42E-EKCN2-00 servomotor manufactured by Kollmorgen is a synchronous motor designed for demanding servo applications. What drives this motor in an extremely dynamic fashion is the neodymium-iron-boron magnetic material for its permanent magnets. This AKM motor does not have brushes as the servo amplifier performs the commutation electronically. The motor is enameled in matt black color. This finish isn’t resistant to solvents like nitro-thinners and trichloroethylene. The life of the motor’s ball bearings is 20,000 operating hours.
