Product Description
The Kollmorgen AKM series of servo motors is uniquely designed and manufactured for use with machine tools, industrial robots, textile machinery, among others. For motors in this series to reach optimal performance, they should be interfaced Kollmorgen servo amplifiers such as the Kollmorgen ServoStar. The servo amplifiers are highly flexible ensuring a flexibility between the amplifier and the motor and between the motor and the application. This improves the motors performance and reliability. Kollmorgen servo motors have an accurate angular positioning. By employing a closed-loop operation where the motor’s feedback sensor is used to control the motor’s rotary position. Servo motors deliver exceptional performance compared to induction motors.
The AKM24C-ANB22-00 is a servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen. It belongs to the AKM series of servo motors and has a 58-millimeter flange size. For feedback, the motor features a comcoder capable for attaining 2048 pulses per revolution (PPR). Note that such a high PPR translates to a high resolution leading precise positioning. To prevent the shaft from accidentally rotating when the motor is at standstill and to minimizes damage to equipment and injury to personnel, the AKM24C-ANB22-00 has a 24 Volts-holding brake.
Before commissioning the motor for use, make sure the motor us grounded. Note that grounding helps reduce the chances of a fire in case there’s current leakage and prevents electric shocks. To prevent noise from interfering with the signal, power cables and control cables should be routed separately to reduce electromagnetic interference. The AKM24C-ANB22-00 reduces cycle time and sensor-and-wiring costs by eliminating traditional homing methods. Note that AKM servo motors can reach a maximum of 8000 revolutions per minute and their windings meet CSA, CE, and UL thermal requirements.
