The AKT-AN-200-000 is a dual channel thermocouple module manufactured by Kollmorgen. By using this module, thermocouples can be connected directly on to the system. Using the two-wire technique, the thermocouple sensors can be operated by the Bus Terminal’s circuitry. Besides, a microprocessor is also provided that ensures that readings are linear over the entire temperature range. The system is powered via the standard-bus system. Multiple sensor types are supported by this module including the J, K, L, B, E, N, R, S, T, and U type thermocouples. The default mode is set for operating with the K-type thermocouple. The default K-type thermocouple sensor can measure temperature values between -100 ᵒC to 1370 ᵒC. The system can detect if a supply lead is broken. An error LED is provide for intimating the users.
The AKT-AN-200-000 allows selecting a specific temperature measurement range. Since a cold junction is not available during operation, the device compensates for it through an internal temperature measurement system. Besides temperature measurement, the module also supports mV measurement. The device weighs only 70 g and can be installed in any suitable installation position. No address settings are required for configuring the device. The configuration process can be carried out through a controller or bus coupler. The system has been designed for highly precise measurements and measurement errors are contained within 0.5% of the original values. Both channels of the module can process 16-bit data. The device should be operated within a 0 ᵒC to 55 ᵒC temperature range for the best results.
