Product Description

Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of industrial motion control products and automation systems for modern industries.

The 5345 micro-step indexer/drive has been designed for bipolar chopper drive for a programmable indexer that enables high quality stepper motor motion control. This drive has a 2.5 A output current when operated in full-step mode and 1.75 A per phase in micro step mode. This model’s bipolar chopper drive has the ability to control motor current at 20 kHz chopper frequency. This model has been designed with internal power supplies that can operate from either 230 VAC or 120 VAC input. The main motor supply is provided with a full wave bridge rectifier into the capacitive input filter. The drive also comes with short circuit protection circuitry that can latch the drive off and trigger the DISABLE LED in the event of a short circuit in the motor output. The DISABLE LED automatically switches off when the short circuit is removed.

The 5345 comes with mil range instability control that eliminates possible motor stalling and loss of torque when the system is being used at mid-range speeds. The instability is originated from the electrical, magnetic, and mechanical characteristics of the stepper motor system. The users can also set a specific step size that defines the amount of steps per rotation. Five different settings are provided that range from full step to fraction of a step. The drive is also equipped with an idle current reduction feature that can reduce the motor winding by 50% when the motor is in dwell periods. The ICR process can be initiated a second after the last input step pulse occurs.
