Product Description

12.BR.100-6150 is a braking resistor. Braking resistors are an important safety and performance component in drive systems. They help ensures controlled deceleration, protect the drive from overvoltage, and enhance the lifespan of the entire system by safely dissipating the regenerative energy generated during braking. Without a braking resistor, a drive can experience damage or operational failures. The 12.BR.100-6150 resistor is designed for use with KEB Combivert drive units. Drives fitted with this resistor are suited to four-quadrant operation. During generator operation, braking energy fed into the DC bus is dissipated by the braking transistor to the braking resistor. Selection of the braking resistor depends on a number of factors, including the desired braking time, braking torque, and peak breaking power. It is also necessary to ensure the maximum cyclic duration is never exceeded.

One 12.BR.100-6150 brake resistor can be used with a Combivert drive unit. Its resistance value is 150 Ohms. Peak power of the braking resistor is 3.85 kilowatts. The cyclic duration factor of the resistor is 6 seconds. KEB recommends 14 AWG (2.5 mm2) cables for wiring the resistor. The calculated peak braking power must be smaller than the maximum load capacity of the resistance. KEB recommended using the resistor in environments where the ambient temperature is kept between -40 and 45 degrees Celsius. Height of the braking resistor is 300 millimeters and its depths is 20 millimeters. Width of the braking resistor is approximately 1055 millimeters. During operation, the surface temperature of the resistor can get extremely high. Separation between adjacent units is necessary for preventing heat related damage. Cooling measures must be used when the resistor in installed inside a cabinet.
