Product Description

The S6001 is a Kollmorgen single-axis micro-stepping drive. It is a 6 amp, bipolar, 160VDC, the recirculating drive that can run 2 phase hybrid step motors. The axis on the S6001 is an independent axis. The unit is compatible with a number of different indexers or motion controllers. These will help to provide counterclockwise as well as clockwise step pulses and also to generate direction signals and step signals.               

The S6001 micro-stepping drive can manage permanent magnet hybrid step motors with a two-phase design and with 4, 6 or 8 leads. It can operate with linear actuators, precision gear motors and step motors between 17 and 42 frame. The unit features advanced anti-resonance circuitry which almost completely eliminates mid-range instability. This feature also helps to improve the motor’s usable torque immensely.

The S6001 model uses airflow cooling and so it should be mounted with enough clearance to allow for a fan kit if airflow will be marginal. Ensure the unit is mounted so that the heat sink fins are vertical so that all convection currents can flow along the unit’s fins. The S6001 has a vertical clearance of other surfaces and equipment and should have a minimum of 4 inches of clearance from these. The horizontal recommended clearance is 2 inches. Do not mount equipment below the S6001 which is heat generating. If necessary an airflow system can be installed to keep ambient temperatures below 35°C.
