Product Description
The SP4-055-03 is a compact and high performance four axis DC-powered drive. It is designed for precise position and velocity control of stepper motors via the CANopen protocol. This cost effective device leverages advanced FPGA technology to support efficient multi axis operations in industrial automation applications.
The Stepnet series DC drive operates as four independent CANopen nodes compliant with the DSP-402 motion control standard. Supported modes include Profile Position-Velocity, Homing and Interpolated Position Mode (PVT) that caters to versatile industrial needs. Additionally, a servo mode enables precise position, velocity and torque control using CANopen or PWM signals. The device handles stepper command pulses and integrates master encoder inputs for camming or gearing operations in microstepping mode. The drive incorporates essential safety measures including HV overvoltage and undervoltage protections. These ensure outputs turn off if voltage exceeds 55 VDC or falls below 14 VDC. Thermal protection is also included with outputs shutting down if the heat plate temperature exceeds 90 °C.
This Copley Controls SP4-055-03 DC drive supports an input voltage range of 14 – 55 VDC and delivers continuous and peak currents of 3 A. Feedback is supported through four groups of A/B/X digital encoder inputs that is compatible with single ended signals and capable of processing up to 2 Mlines/sec. The drive also features a 5 VDC power output for encoders that is protected against thermal and short circuit conditions. Communication interfaces include an optically isolated CANopen port and an RS-232 port for CME2 software access. A high speed SPI port is provided with one input and four outputs programmable for custom functions. This compact and reliable DC drive is an ideal choice for demanding multi axis motion control applications.
