The SF-A4.0172.030-14.015 is part of the SF and SR series of brushless servomotors manufactured by Bosch group. Special features of this motor are; Sinusoidal e.m.f, low-contamination aluminium frame, Installation pockets over the entire length of the motors, Integrated encoder, electronic rating plate for automatic optimization of the Servo Dyn-D inverter to the motor, Plug-in connection for output and encoder, Holding brake, Protection type IP 67 (except output side), Cooling by natural convection, optional forced-air cooling. This model comes equipped with a holding brake for fixing the feed axis on standstill or when the system is de-energized.

These high-power motors have a locked motor torque is 18 Nm and the rated speed is 3000 min^-1. Noise behaviour max 58 dB(A) at 1 m. The maximum admissible force is 154N. The holding brake has transferable torque of 18 Nm and motor current of 0.7 A. It works according to the fail-safe principle. The holding brake control signal of the inverter module is a controlled switching signal which operates the holding brakes only when the axis has stopped turning. This signal is not used, the motor must be shut down and then the holding brake must be activated.
