The universal three-phase drive system displays a high degree of flexibility so that it can be adapted to suit user-specific applications, thanks to its modular design. It is used for controlling synchronous and induction motors in applications like chemical and process technology, food packaging and processing machines, and machine tools.

The RD52.1-4B-110-L-V1-FW is one of the converter units in the three-phase RD 500 drive system. Like other units in the RD52 line, its motion control mechanism involves field-oriented vector control. It performs its motion control function with a three-phase AC voltage supply between 200V and 230V with a tolerance of ±15%. It also has a power rating of 110kW and is a product of Size Class E. It features a removable control panel used for the operation, monitoring, and parameterization of the system. An added advantage of this control panel is that it allows parameter sets to be copied and shared with other devices.

To aid the RD52.1-4B-110-L-V1-FW in carrying out its control function, it is equipped with fast-switching semi-conductors. It also works with a pulse-width modulated output voltage with switching frequencies up to 12kHz to achieve the control of its motor’s torque and speed.
