Bosch Rexroth's RD 500 series are universal three-phase drive systems used in synchronous and induction motors. The RD 500 series consists of a series of AC drive converters, inverters for DC supply, and rectifier and supply modules that are capable of regenerative feedback into the line supply. RD 51 drives are voltage frequency control drives that provide an economical drive solution for applications that do not need servo characteristics, such as pumps, ventilators, moving gears, centrifuges, extruders, agitators, and conveyor belts.

The RD51.1-5B-160-R-NN-FW is a converter in the RD 500 series with a nominal connecting voltage of AC 500V +/-10%. Its hardware and software have a modular construction which enables optimized flexible customization for a particular drive task. This device functions with various interfaces for operating, observing, and parameterizing the drive system. They include Interbus S remote bus, Profibus DP slave, CAN open, and Peer-to-Peer coupling with a fiber-optic cable. This converter has a removable user panel with a parameter copy function and a four-line graphical display. The user panel is used to operate, monitor, parameterize, copy parameter sets and transfer them to other devices.

The cooling of the RD51.1-5B-160-R-NN-FW is via liquid cooling with an internal pump. It has an Ingress protection rating of IP 20 according to EN 60529. It is equipped with a start inhibitor function which protects it against accidental starting. This converter is in full compliance with the EMC directives regarding noise immunity and noise emission according to EN 61800-3. It is also immune to noise according to EN 50082-2. Firmware can be used with this RD 51 model but it must be purchased as a separate sub-item from the manufacturer.
