The RD500 device is a world-class three-phase drive system built by INDRAMAT.  Its components include AC drive converters, DC supply inverters, regenerative rectifiers, and supply modules. The modular configuration of the system's hardware and software enables it to adapt to specific drive applications. The RD 500 is suited for synchronous and induction motors. Examples of its uses are seen in hoist and conveyor technology, packing and foodstuff machines, machine tools, handling and assembly systems, and so on.

The RD51.1-5B-011-L-C1-FW is a frequency controller in the INDRAMAT RD500 drive system. Its motion control method is voltage frequency control, making it suited to motors in devices such as agitators, centrifuges, roller tables, etc. This is due to these motors being without servo characteristics. It features a converter that requires a three-phase AC supply of 500V with a tolerance limit of (+/-) 10. Its power rating stands at 11 kW, and the ideal cooling method is forced air cooling. Peer-to-peer coupling is supported via a fiber optic cable.

The RD51.1-5B-011-L-C1-FW is with a built-in brake chopper and has an external 24V standby power. In addition, it allows for the connection of RZC01.1-XN. The use of firmware is supported in the operation of this controller. Although, it is to be ordered as a separate item. This frequency controller is operated with an operator panel. Also, its protection degree is 1P20 per EN 60529 standard; therefore, it cannot be penetrated by solid external objects with 12 mm or more diameter. However, it can be damaged by water penetration from water jets. The storage space of the RD51.1-5B-011-L-C1-FW must be dry and clean, with temperatures maintained between -25^o C and 70^o C.
