The Bosch RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW is a universal three-phase drive system. It is designed for control of synchronous and induction motors. A type label on the drive lists information that can be used for identification at the time of delivery. The type label information can also prove to be helpful when equipment and replacements have to be ordered. The converter on the RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW is rated for 500 Volts AC input (three-phase) and includes a brake chopper. Additional functions available on the drive are connection for RZC01.1-XT with NAMUR terminals trip and 24 Volt standby power. The power output of the RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW is 4 kilowatts. Firmware for the drive has to be ordered separately. RD51 drives support multiple pulse frequencies including 4 kilohertz, 8 kilohertz and 12 kilohertz. The protection category of the drive housing is IP20.
The RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW cools via forced air cooling. This cooling method requires use of fans or blowers to force air across the heated housing of the drive. The minimum air flow rate required for adequate cooling is listed in the product documentation. If the minimum air flow is not provided then the ambient temperature will exceed the recommended range of 0 of 40 degrees Celsius. If this happens, the internal temperature of the drive could increase to levels that could cause the drive to fail. Operation of the RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW under non-specified ambient conditions is not permitted and also voids the manufacturer warranty. The environment used for drive storage should be dry and clean with -25 to 70 degrees Celsius temperature. As the drive components contains electrolytic capacitors, they cannot be stored for more than 2 years. The RD51.1-5B-004-L-D1-FW must be installed by trained personnel.
