Drive units such as power supply modules in regenerative feedback and normal power supply versions, inverters for DC connection, and converters are components of the RD 500 drive system. It is a modular three-phase current drive system with high flexibility, making it suitable for various applications. The RD51 converters in this system are highly functional, economical drive solutions used in conveyor belts, agitators, ventilators, moving gears, and extruders.

The RD51.1-4B-055-L-NN-FW is a converter unit in the RD 500 drive system designed and manufactured by Indramat Refu. It features an integrated brake chopper of 33kW continuous power and a 5 Ohms minimum resistance value. The peak power of this brake chopper for one second is 130kW. The converter’s nominal connecting voltage is 380V to 480V with a ±10% tolerance, and its rated power value is 55kW. It achieves motion control using voltage frequency control, where the output frequency is determined by a set value, and the output voltage adjusts to correspond to this frequency.

As a product of Size Class D, the RD51.1-4B-055-L-NN-FW is modular and designed for mounting in a control cabinet. Like other RD 500 units, it has a 22.5mm mechanical grid pattern, allowing many drive units to be mounted next to one another without any intermediate space. The control cabinet also reduces noise radiation and facilitates the simple installation of the converter. According to EN 60529, the Ingress Protection rating of this RD51 model is IP 20, meaning that it cannot be damaged by the penetration of solid objects over 12mm in diameter. The converter also has a removable user panel with a four-line graphical display and parameter copy function.
