The RAC 2.3-200-380-A00-W1/S002 is the main spindle drive that offers seamless digital control of Indramat 2AD asynchronous main spindle motors and 1 MB frameless spindle motor with a constant motor output of 30 to 52 kW at the motor shaft. Drive systems that incorporate the RAC 2.3 drive controller predominantly have high stiffness and a broad speed range with constant power. Regarding spindle positioning, RAC 2.3 contains an internal position control loop. This control loop is closed either by motor feedback or by the optional spindle feedback. As a result, this helps the spindle driver reach a resolution of up to 1/4000000.
In terms of power, this controller can receive power from a three-phase main supply (3* 400 volts, 50 Hz, +/- 15%, or 3* 460 volts, 60 Hz, +/- 10%). Furthermore, the main contractor and the emergency switch are integrated which is helping the controller automatically stop the main spindle through direct braking.
The RAC 2.3-200-380-A00-W1/S002 was created to function under the best conditions due to its top of the line cooling system. This cooling system is composed of a heatsink and fan that are both integrated within the RAC main spindle driver controller housing. Consequently, the cooling airflow is piloted through the unit in an air shaft. Furthermore, the RAC drive controllers can be cooled with a control cabinet inside or outside. The mandatory changes needed to make the controller be cooled inside or outside the cabinet control is quite effortless and can be performed anywhere as it does not require any special accessories or tools.
