Product Description
The RAC 2.3-150-460-A0I-W1 is part of the RAC 2 series of main spindle drive controllers from Indramat. These controllers digitally control certain motors from Indramat such as the 1MB frameless spindle motors. The RAC 2 controller housing contains the heatsink for the fan and the power electronics. There is an airshaft within which cool air flow is guided in the controller unit. Control cabinet inside or outside air can be used to cool the unit.
When planning the control cabinet, it is important to pay attention to thermal data such as power dissipation. When it is in operation, the RAC 2 main spindle drive controller emits heat. The built-in heatsink and the air slits in the cover are designed so that the heat generated can be discharged in these locations. The amount of power dissipated internally and externally by the Indramat drive controller is dependent on the workload. Knowing this dependency relationship is important when it comes time to calculate the ideal dimensions of both the control cabinet and the cooling system.
Because of its heating up during operation, the controller must be cooled. There are two main ways of doing this, and the control cabinet inside air or outside air can be used. The method chosen depends on the mounting method in use. When the controller is supplied, the default cooling mechanism uses control cabinet outside air. That means that cooling air for the heatsink is taken in from the outside and after it has been used, it is blown outside again. If the inside air or hose methods are required, some structural adjustments must be done to the RAC 2 drive controller. This unit can be shipped globally with a one-year warranty period from Wake Industrial.
