Indramat produces the RAC 2.3-150-460-A00-W, which is a main spindle drive controller. One of the main applications of these controllers is in numerically controlled machine tools.

The RAC 2.3-150-460-A00-W1 has a rated connections voltage of 3 x AC 400V/50Hz, 3 x AC 460V/60Hz. The speed set-point is analogue (+/- 10 V). There is no extra encoder input or additional interface. No extra bleeder is present. Cooling is carried out with the aid of a fan that is built into the structure.

The RAC 2 controllers operate in an ambient temperature range of 5-45 degrees C. 55 degrees C is the maximum permissible operating temperature. The control cabinets can be installed at a height of up to 1000 meters above sea level as the maximum. As the altitude increases, the torque and power both decrease. When mounting the Indramat drive controller in the control cabinet, certain parts are required. Firstly, M1-RAC 2, the mechanical mounting accessories are needed. The RAC 2 controller itself should be ready for mounting. The controller weighs 121 kg, so there is a need for lifting equipment. The control cabinet must be prepared for the cooling method that will be required for the application—cooling using inside air, outside air, or hose cooling in certain instances. If the cooling arrangement is not prepared properly in the control cabinet, there is a high risk of condensation water making its way to the controller inside the cabinet.
