The RAC 2.2-250-380-D0I-W1 is a main spindle drive controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth. The drive controller features a 400A current rating while its connections voltage is rated at 3 x AC 400V/50-60Hz. It features direct current braking, which allows it to turn off the central spindle in a power failure case. It is used to provide intelligent and electronic control of 1MB frameless spindle motors and Indramat 2AD allochronic central spindle motors. It also offers a standard motor output of between 30 kW and 50 kW at the driveshaft level. Since this drive controller features a wide speed range, high rigidity, and regular power, they are ideal for machine tools that are numerically-controlled.
The controller features a digital interface for its speed set-point. The digital interface offers a 16-bit parallel speed set point. Thus, the drive controller can be connected to PLC controllers. It is especially beneficial when the PLC controller has a low set-point and long circuit length. The RAC 2.2-250-380-D0I-W1 does not include an extra encoder input. This encoder input is usually used to connect the internal position controller to the spindle, but this drive controller does not require any spindle synchronization.
It does feature an optional additional interface. In its case, it is an incremental encoder output. This is used for position control through CNC control. The added interface can be used during screwing, tapping, or a C-axis operation. This central spindle drive controller does not come with an additional bleeder. The heatsink and fan are built into the RAC 2.2-250-380-D0I-W1 drive controller housing, and the cooling air is passed through an air shaft. Since it cools with air inside the cabinet, the cooling air is taken from inside the controller's control cabinet and blown out.
