The RAC 2.2-150-380-A0S-W1 is a spindle drive controller which is used to control the asynchronous main spindle motors and frameless spindle motors. This controller provides a digital control service that can generate a continuous motor output of about 30 to 52KW. The RAC 2.2-150-380-A0S-W1 is mainly specific for its stiffness and broad speed range that aids its application in different precise machine tools. This controller also comprises a direct current braking technique that is capable of stopping the main spindle during a power failure problem.
The rated connection voltage for the controller is the 3 phase AC supply having a voltage amplitude of 400V. It is operated at a frequency of 50-60Hz. One of the main objectives of the controller is to control the speed of the motor, so the set point for changing the speed is provided through the means of analog voltages (+/- 10V). This controller has the capability of controlling a single motor at a time as it does not comprise any additional encoder input terminals for more control. The controller uses an RS232C serial interface to communicate and transfer the data between Data Terminal Equipment (Computer) and Data Circuit-terminating Equipment (Controller).
According to the EN 60 529 (DIN VDE 0470), the controller is designed under the protection class of IP10. This protection ensures the safety of the controller against any penetration by solid objects with a diameter greater than 50mm. But, the IP10 protection class does not include the protection of the controller against water and any deliberate penetrations. According to the DIN VDE 0160, the controller is designed for mounting in a control cabinet or sealed housing, so, necessary protective measures should be implemented during the time of application.
