The PST6250.346-L from Bosch’s PST 6250 series is a high power thyristor power supply. It includes an integrated weld timer and three slots for optional I/O and communication modules. The weld time requires 24 Volts DC power supply. The PST6250.346-L supports up to 50% duty cycle regardless of operating current. The duty cycle limit is set through an integrated de-excitation resistor rated for 2.2 kiloohms. Main components of an AC welding system are thyristor power unit such as the PST6250.346-L, a weld timer and a welding transformer. The PST 6250 can be used with welding transformers that have peak power rating of 250 kVA. The PST6250.346-L is designed for convection cooling and requires minimum 100 millimeters of clearance for unobstructed air flow. The working temperature range is up to 45 degrees Celsius.
For transportation and storage, the recommended temperature range is -25 to 70 degrees Celsius. Humidity class of the power supply is F according to DIN 40040. Elevation of an installed power unit should not exceed 2000 meters above sea level. The PST6250.346-L requires 400 to 600 Volts AC input (three-phase, 50 / 60 Hertz) and can deliver up to 200 Amps of continuous thermal current. Wire with maximum 95 mm2 cross-sectional area is recommended for the power connections which are made through a box terminal. Overvoltage protection is provided on the power unit by means of an integrated metal oxide varistor (MOV). The PST6250.346-L is available in an IP 20 rated enclosure which is designed for a modular enclosure or for installation in switchgear cabinets with IP 54 rating. Programming of the supply unit can be accomplished through the BOS-5000 software installed on a local or host PC.
