The PST6250.321-L is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth as a two-phase thyristor power unit with integrated control function. The fully integrated power unit does not require many cables since most of the units like the weld timer, I/O interface, quality module and control and monitoring functions have been built-in. It has an air pressure of anything within 2000 m above sea level and a weight of approximately of 12.5kg, making it ideal for only a vertical or back facing mounting plate mounting position. The PST6250.321-L has a nominal system current of 200A, and a voltage supply between 24 V DC and 19 V DC, with 30 V C according to the EN 61131-2.
To protect against overvoltage, it features a Metal Oxide Varistor. This is not the only inbuilt monitoring and protective feature it has. It also has an integrated weld timer which will alert you when there is overloading in the PST6250.321-L, protecting against damage of the thyristor power unit and the person operating it. In this unit, a maximum value of 50% duty cycle is allowed. This is regardless of the operating current of the PST6250.321-L and is limited by the integrated de-excitation resistor. These in-built functions were placed by Bosch to increase the reliability of the two-phase thyristor power unit.
The PST6250.321-L cannot be used for any other application apart from the connection of welding transformers. Specifically, it is used in the resistance of welding metals and is ideal for operation in industrial environments. Any other use could damage the power unit and harm the user. It falls in protection category IP20 which protects it from water and impact of external objects, but it’s up to the user to protect it from corrosion.
