The Bosch PST6100.320-L is a PST 6100 series 2-phase thyristor power unit. A thyristor is a semiconductor device which is current operated and operates in the switching mode. It only conducts when it is forward biased and a triggering current has been applied to its gate. The PST6100.320-L has an integrated control and monitoring function and is designed for use with maximum 76 kVA rated welding transformers. Other features of the power unit include weld timers, flexible serial and parallel interfaces, fieldbus communication interfaces, and independent control and monitoring functionality. Functionality of the PST6100.320-L is optimized for welding. The power unit can be integrated into a portable welding kit. Programming of the power unit is accomplished through a BOS-5000 operator interface. A host PC running BOS-5000 can connect to the power unit over serial or fieldbus interfaces and can log events and display faults and diagnostics.
Rated voltage of the PST6100.320-L is 400 Volts AC (-20%) to 600 Volts AC (+10%). AC line frequencies supported by the unit are 50 / 60 Hertz. It is an air cooled device and includes integrated heat sink. The recommended maximum ambient temperature is 131 degrees Fahrenheit. Storage temperature range is -13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. To prevent damage to the power unit, the air surrounding it must be free of metal vapors, salts, acids and caustic solutions. Relative humidity at 68 ad 104 degrees Fahrenheit are 90% and 50% respectively. Optimal operation of the PST6100.320-L is achieved at elevations less than 6600 feet. Slots for optional modules are available on the power unit and can be used to install serial interfaces, parallel interfaces and fieldbus interfaces. Enclosure of the unit is IP 20 rated.
