Product Description
The MSS160A-020-A1N-NN is a well-crafted stator from Rexroth Bosch’s IndraDyn H series, featuring a three-phase winding. With a 160A body frame, this stator boasts medium construction and high-speed characteristics. MSS stators are known for their reliability and efficiency. As an important component of a synchronous motor, this MSS stator works best when paired with an appropriate rotor. AC motors and generators rely on both the stator and rotor to deliver mechanical or electrical energy, respectively. For motors, the rotor acts as the main component for driving the loads. The rotor is the dynamic component where loads are attached. On the other hand, the stator remains stationary throughout the operation and provides the moving magnetic field.
Depending on the applied bus voltage, the synchronous speed that the stator provides may vary. Generally, higher DC bus voltages lead to higher synchronous speeds. The MSS160A-020-A1N-NN incorporates a cooling jacket that allows it to operate with liquid cooling. Compared to motors with ventilating fans, liquid-cooled motors are generally more efficient and thermally stable. The thermal time constant provides a good estimate of the electrical machine’s thermal stability. This time constant describes how quickly the machine can achieve 63% of its final temperature. Since liquid-cooled stators like the MSS160A-020-A1N-NN do not rely on surface fans or natural convection, they have smaller thermal time constants and therefore shorter cooling times.
During operation, the MSS160A-020-A1N-NN can withstand an ambient temperature profile between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. At this ambient condition, the preferable relative humidity must be between 5 and 95% with no condensation. Unlike other products by Rexroth Bosch, MSS stators such as the MSS160A-020-A1N-NN feature no casing and therefore have an IP00 protection class.
