Product Description
The MSK100B-0450-NN-M1-BP1-NNNN is a Bosch Rexroth synchronous servo motor. It is known as a servo motor because its speed synchronizes to the input current frequency. It is known as a servo motor because it supports feedback and forms part of a closed-loop control system. The other device that is part of the control system is a drive controller. The controller performs two functions: it provides motor power and controls motor speed, torque and position. The benefit of feedback is that it allows the controller to know the exact motor speed and torque. The controller adjusts its output on the bases of feedback to ensure that the motor speed and torque match programmed values. The encoder on the MSK100B-0450-NN-M1-BP1-NNNN is an optical multiturn absolute device. The encoder supports Hiperface, which is a motor feedback protocol developed specifically for digital drives.
The key benefit of Hiperface is its simplicity: it combines a digital channel for absolute position information with an analog channel for incremental position and speed feedback, all in one eight-wire cable (two wires for the digital RS-485 communication, four for the differential sine/cosine signals, and two for power). The power cable connects to a power socket on side B of the motor housing. The motor has an output shaft with a keyway and a shaft seal. The benefit of the keyway is that is prevents relative motion between the shaft and the connected machine. The MSK100B-0450-NN-M1-BP1-NNNN motor is also equipped with a holding brake rated for 32 Nm holding torque. Even though the motor is designed for natural convection, operators can install a cooling fan (radial or axial) and use the motor with surface cooling.
