A synchronous motor, MS2N03-B0BYN-CMSH0-NNNNN-NN manufactured by Rexroth Bosch is an AC motor in which the rotation of the rotor is directly associated with the supply current. In contrast with the asynchronous (induction) motors in which the rotor flux speed is always behind the magnetic stator field, synchronous motors have a constant speed and are directly related to the power supply system frequency.

In a synchronous motor, when AC is provided to the stator of the motor; it produces an electromagnetic field. A magnet or winding that rotates in connection with the generated magnetic field helps the rotor in running. This is good because it can help make the motor consistent if it is used in applications where precision is needed like in clocks, conveyors or positioning systems.
