The Bosch Rexroth MHD115C-058-PG1-RA is a synchronous motor. A synchronous motor is one for which the motor speed is synchronized to the frequency of the supply current. The supply current is provided by a drive controller. The MHD115C-058-PG1-RA is a motor with integrated multiturn encoder for servo feedback. The feedback from the motor encoder is sent to the drive controller over the feedback cable that connects both devices. This feedback is used by the drive controller to compare operating parameters of the motor with settings that are configured by an operator. The feedback enables the drive controller to ensure that the motor parameters match configured or desired parameters. The housing of the motor is suited to natural convection or surface cooling. MHD motors with liquid cooling option are also available.

When looking from the front of the motor onto the drive shaft, the power connector is on the right side of motor housing. The size of the mounting flange on the MHD115C-058-PG1-RA is 192 millimeters. Four holes on the flange can be used for motor mounting. MHD motors can be mounted in any desired orientation. The centering diameter of the MHD115C-058-PG1-RA is 180 millimeters. The motor features a plain shaft with sealing ring and a holding brake rated for 70 Nm holding torque. The motor housing is painted black and is IP65 rated for superior environmental protection. The maximum motor speed is 6000 RPM. The rated speed depends on cooling method used and the overtemperature condition: it is 1000 RPM for natural convection and 60K overtemperature and 2000 RPM for 100K overtemperature.  The rated motor speed with surface cooling is 2000 RPM. Weight of the servo motor is approximately 55 kilograms.
