The digital drive controllers designed and manufactured by Bosch Rexroth can be combined with intelligent digital AC servo motors like those in the MHD series to build rapid-response automation systems. The MHD motors are synchronous motors with a low inertia mass, thanks to the use of unique magnets in their construction. They are typically used in handling and automation systems, machine tools, printing and paper industries, and packaging and food processing machines.

The MHD112B-024-NG2-AN is a servo motor in Bosch Rexroth’s MHD series. It is a maintenance-free model with high operational reliability and high overload capability, thanks to the efficient transfer of heat from its stator windings to the wall of its housing. Its nominal speed is 3,500 revolutions per minute, but it can attain a top speed of 4,000 revolutions per minute. It has 4 pole pairs and a rotor with a moment of inertia of 192.0 x 10-4 kgm2. Its peak current is 98.5A, while its maximum theoretical torque is 102.0Nm.

The electronic commutation feature of the MHD112B-024-NG2-AN permits its use in continuous start-stop operations with high repeat frequencies. It supports the direct overhung mounting of pinions and belt pulleys since its bearings are designed for high radial loads. These bearings remain lubricated throughout their lifetime of operation and have a nominal lifetime of 30,000 hours. The encoder system of this MHD motor is digital servo feedback and its measuring principle is optical. It has a system accuracy of ±0.5 angular minutes and detects the absolute indirect position of the motor within 4,096 motor revolutions. This motor’s protection rating is IP 65 according to EN 60529.
