The MHD093B-058-PG1-RA is a MHD series synchronous motor. It is manufactured by Bosch for industrial applications that require closed-loop control. The motor works in conjunction with a drive controller that controls motor and other parameters based on feedback that the controller receives from the motor. The feedback is transmitted by an encoder that is an integral part of the MHD093B-058-PG1-RA motor. The feedback is sent over a feedback cable that connects the motor to the controller. The power for the motor is transmitted via a power cable that is also connected to the controller. The minimum power cable size that is recommended by Bosch is 2.5 mm2. The MHD093B-058-PG1-RA has a plain shaft that is fitted with a seal. This seal protects the motor bearings from external contaminants. The housing of the motor is fully sealed and carries a IP65 protection rating.
The MHD093B-058-PG1-RA is totally dust proof. The motor is also safe from low-pressure jets of water. However it cannot be submerged in water or any other liquid. The motor is designed to cool via natural convection. Forced air cooling with fans and blowers can also be used to improve the rate of heat dissipation. Proper ventilation is mandatory for motor cooling. The ambient temperature should not exceed 40 degrees Celsius during operation, otherwise the motor performance will degrade and it could also get damaged. A 22 Nm holding brake is provided as an integrated feature on the MHD093B-058-PG1-RA motor. The holding brake is a safety feature designed to prevent shaft movement until a control signal is applied to release the brake. Only trained and qualified personnel should handle, assemble and installed the MHD093B-058-PG1-RA motor.
