Product Description
Bosch Rexroth’s rapid-response automation systems are composed of digital drive controllers from Indramat and digital AC servo motors such as those in the MDD series. The MDD motors are permanent magnet-excited synchronous motors that ensure high contouring accuracies at high feed rates, especially when used for cutting in high speed ranges.
The MDD115D-N-020-N2M-130PA2 is a model of the MDD servo motors by Bosch Rexroth. It features a high overload capability due to efficient heat transfer from its windings to the walls of its housing. This winding also has a thermal sensor to monitor the motor’s temperature and prevent damage due to overload conditions. The MDD model is a product of Balance Class N according to DIN VDE 0530; hence, it supports normal applications. Its centering diameter is 130mm, and its nominal speed is 2,000 revolutions per minute. The rotor in this model is built with permanent magnets made from rare-earth or iron oxide magnetic materials. Its moment of inertia is 271 x 10-4 kgm2, giving a favorable torque-inertia ratio that suits highly dynamic operations.
Position evaluation in the MDD115D-N-020-N2M-130PA2 is achieved via digital servo feedback with an integrated multiturn absolute encoder. This encoder eliminates the need for a separate absolute encoder with the motor and preserves information on its absolute position after a shutdown. It has a system accuracy of ±0.5 angular minutes and a data storage feature to ensure the motor’s quick startup. Since it uses the optical measuring method, the motor’s position can be detected with a maximal level of precision. Thanks to the completely sealed housing design of this MDD motor, it can be safely operated under poor environmental conditions.
