Bosch Rexroth designs and manufactures a wide range of servo motors for different factory automation purposes, including the innovative digital AC motors of the MDD series. The motors form rapid-response automation systems when they are combined with digital drive controllers from Indramat. Their typical areas of application include textile machines, handling equipment, robotics, and printing and processing machines.

The MDD115B-N-020-N2L-130GA0 is a synchronous servo motor designed and manufactured by Bosch Rexroth. It is an MDD model with a centering diameter of 130mm and a nominal speed of 2,000 revolutions per minute. The motor is best-suited for highly dynamic operations such as roller feeds for pressing, punching, and nibbling machines because of its high power density. Its rotor’s permanent magnets are made from rare earth materials, giving it a low inertia mass. It also features electronic commutation for a high cyclic load capacity. Hence, the motor can also be used for continuous start-stop operations with high repetition rates. It is balanced in terms of Balance Class N according to DIN VDE 0530.

Due to its compact size, the MDD115B-N-020-N2L-130GA0 has a high power to weight ratio. The motor’s integrated encoder is digital servo feedback with a system accuracy of ±0.5 angular minutes. Its measurement method is the optical principle, and it detects the relative indirect position of the motor. This encoder version replaces separate incremental encoders on the motor and has a data memory to aid its quick startup. The output shaft of this MDD model is a plain shaft with a shaft sealing ring. It permits a backlash-free and non-positive torque transmission while its sealing prevents liquids from penetrating the motor housing along the shaft.
