To move the motor shaft more accurately, the MAD100D-0100-SA-S2-AG0-35-N1 features a single-turn absolute encoder that uses the EnDat 2.1 digital communication protocol. The encoder has a step resolution of 2048 steps and also has an onboard memory to store the last known shaft position which is handy during power loss situations. The encoder uses 5-volt square wave signals which are sent out in pulses to count the number of steps passed. Once all 2048 steps are counted, the motor completes a full rotation.
