MAC servomotors act like rapid-response servo drives when they are used in conjunction with TDM, DSC or KDS drive controllers. This functionality makes the AC servomotors highly suitable for use in various areas such as robotics, machine tools, printing presses, transfer facilities, handling equipment and more.
MAC servomotors perform electronic commutation and incorporate permanent magnets on a laminated core in their rotors. The magnets are designed using special materials so that the motors have low inertia. All servomotors have two sets of windings and a plain shaft for non-positive shaft-hub connections or a shaft with a keyway for form-fitting shaft-hub connections. They may or may not have a holding brake that holds the output shaft in place. These Indramat servomotors always have an integrated tacho-feedback as the motor feedback and can have an encoder mounted for position evaluation. We offer assistance to keep your industrial automation line up and running while maintaining widget production quotas and normal operating standards.
- MAC servomotors have individual flanged sockets with connectors on their housings to connect the power, encoder and tacho-feedback cables directly.
- The encoder mounted on the servomotors for position evaluation can be an incremental encoder or an absolute encoder. Incremental encoders are preferred when the motor features shock-damped mounting and/or the machine in which the motor is used has low shock loads.
- The entire range of MAC Indramat servomotors offers maintenance-free operation because of their lifetime lubricated bearings and brushless design.
- The servomotors are characterized by high output data. Their high cyclic load capacity allows continuous start-stop operations with high repetition rates due to electronic commutation.
- The floating and fixed bearings of the motors on Side A and Side B respectively absorb the radial and axial forces encountered during operation.
Some variants of these Indramat servomotors are characterized by a special windings design that renders a smooth run and makes them suitable for operating precision lathes and grinding machines. The type code of these motors indicates an F tacho type. These servomotors can be equipped with a second shaft end to support third-party encoders.
MAC servomotors can be fitted with blowers to support surface cooling when extreme loads occur. Their stator housings and windings are integrated with thermo switches that monitor the motor temperature and protect them against damage. All Indramat MAC servomotors except for the MAC 063 series have a shaft sealing ring around their output shafts.
