Product Description
Rexroth Bosch's MAC115D-0-CS-4-C/180-A-2/WA605XX/S001 is an asynchronous motor that is used because of its simple construction, high reliability and reasonable price. These motors rely on electromagnetic induction for working. They consist of two main parts; stator and rotor where stator remains fixed. When the current in stator windings is AC, it produces an electromagnetic field. The movement between these magnetic fields helps in mechanical movement.
The term "asynchronous" means that the rotor does not rotate with the same frequency as the stator's magnetic field. As the rotor fails to rotate with the stator, this variation is referred to as a slip. This slip is required to produce the amount of torque demanded to keep the motor revolving. The MAC115D-0-CS-4-C/180-A-2/WA605XX/S001 motor is equipped with a heavy-duty blocking brake having a torque of 60 Nm. The key function of this brake is to generate mechanical holding torque at a time when the motor is either idle or when a position needs to be held. This is particularly useful where there are position sensing loops for accurate positioning of a robot or a machine tool which if varies during non-operation times, will cause operational problems.
When the break is on, the rotor stops turning even with load and this provides the required stability and safety. The braking torque of 60 Nm is high, which provides holding force thus making the motor appropriate for use in tough operations. This feature also increases operational safety as the motor can be stopped or locked when required. In conclusion, asynchronous motors such as MAC115D operate on the electromagnetic induction principle, and the holding brake provides the required accuracy, stability and safety, particularly in harsh industrial operations.
