The Bosch HCS01.1E-W0008-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S5-NN-FW is an industrial drive controller. It is used in industrial applications for control of motor speed, torque and position. The controller is equipped with a multi-encoder interface that is compatible with several motor encoders (Hiperface, EnDat 2.1, MSM encoder, resolver etc.). This feature allows use of HCS series encoders with a wide range of Bosch industrial servo motors. The HCS01.1E-W0008-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S5-NN-FW is designed for forced air cooling. However, large cabinets are required since it releases warm air inside the cabinet. HCS series devices require 0 to 40 degrees Celsius ambient temperature for nominal output. The output derates at higher ambient temperatures. Use of the HCS01.1E-W0008-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S5-NN-FW at temperatures that exceed 55 degrees Celsius is not permitted. Peak current output of the controller is 8 Amps. Its power section accepts 200 to 500 Volts AC input.
The controller housing belongs to IP20 protection class: it only provides protection against solids with 12 millimeter dimensions. Lack of moisture ingress protection means a suitable cabinet must used for controller installation. An integrated Multi-Ethernet interface is available on the controller. In addition, a module with an engineering port and a safety module with safe motion support are also installed. Safe motion is a safety function for monitoring and control of motor parameters such as velocity, acceleration, position. The HCS01.1E-W0008-A-03-B-ET-EC-EP-S5-NN-FW is shipped with a standard control panel. The control panel must be connected to the controller before it is switched on. This is because the control panel does not support hot-plug. The firmware for HCS series controllers must be ordered separately from the hardware. Bosch recommends allowing only trained personnel to plan and execute HCS controller installation and maintenance.
