One of these is the HCS drive converter with multi-protocol support and an innovative multi-encoder interface. Targeted areas of application for this unit are food packaging and processing machines, general automation, and printing and paper processing machines.

The HCS01.1E-W0005-A-03-E-S3-EC-NN-NN-NN-FW is a versatile drive converter in the HCS series. It is compatible with IndraDrive control sections with the ECONOMY design. Thanks to its compact size, it can be easily mounted within a control cabinet where it is cooled via natural convection. The drive unit’s designated mounting style within this control cabinet is G1 mounting to prevent the formation of pockets of heat. A forced cooling air current sorts this with a volumetric capacity of 11.00m³/h. There is also a standard control panel in this device that shows the operating status, command and error diagnoses, and pending warnings on its single-line display. It can be used as a programming module.

Since the Ingress Protection rating of the HCS01.1E-W0005-A-03-E-S3-EC-NN-NN-NN-FW is IP 20 per EN 60529, it indicates that the HCS drive converter does not admit solid extrinsic objects over 12mm. Like other HCS models, it comes with a multi-encoder interface that supports standard encoders with supply voltage ratings of 5V and 12V. Examples of these encoders are the 1 Vpp sin-cos encoder with EnDat 2.1, the MSK motor encoder, the MS2N motor encoder, and the 5V-TTL square-wave encoder with reference track. The drive converter communicates with other units via a sercos/EtherCAT communication module while its maximum current is 5A.
