Product Description
The DDS2.1-W015-D is an excellent drive controller that makes it possible to connect and control multiple AC servo motors or drives. Manufactured by Rexroth Indramat, the DDS2.1-W015-D features a modular design that can accommodate several AC drives and motors from the MDD, MKD, and LAR product series. With its strong capability to act as a rapid-response drive, the DDS2.1-W015-D is appropriate for robotics, textiles, packaging, and printing applications, to name a few. In general, this drive controller is compatible with almost all of Bosch Rexroth’s supply modules, as long as the regulated supply voltage is 24 VDC. It is important not to use unregulated supply modules for the DDS2.1-W015-D, such as the TVM 1.2.
Upon purchase, the configured DDS2.1-W015-D consist of the physical unit and the firmware. The firmware itself includes both the required plugin and software module to operate the physical unit. Drive controllers under the DDS product line come in different variations and specifications. The DDS2.1-W015-D, in particular, belongs under the 2nd series of the DDS product line, featuring an internal air-cooled control cabinet and digital servo feedback. During rated operating conditions, the DDS2.1-W015-D achieves a rated current of 15 A. Like all other DDS drive controllers, the available communication interfaces for the DDS2.1-W015-D are the ANALOG, INTERBUS-S, SERCOS, and single-axis position control.
As the basic unit, the DDS2.1-W015-D is the physical device where the AC motors are connected physically. With its digital servo feedback, it can also monitor the rotor position and speed of the connected AC motor during operation. To operate fully, however, the DDS2.1-W015-D must have an appropriate firmware. The firmware controls how the basic unit interacts with the connected AC machines.
