The Bosch DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW is a DDS series digital drive controller. It is developed for high-performance applications that require accurate motor control. The DDS series of controllers is compatible with a wide range of Bosch motors including those from the 1MB, ADF, LAF, LAR, MDD and MKD motor families. DDS controllers are compatible with inductance motors, inductance linear motors and with synchronous motors. Typical applications of DDS controllers and compatible motors are handling machines, robotics and packaging machines. The DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW is a controller with a 50 Amps rated output. It requires 24 Volts DC input and can be used only with DC supplies that deliver regulated output. DDS controllers are designed for either heat technology or cold technology. The DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW is designed for heat technology and dissipates heat inside the control cabinet.
For this reason either large cabinets air conditioning has to be used for maintenance of ambient temperature. The controller supports both digital servo feedback and resolver feedback. This allows use of the DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW with motors that feature a digital encoder or an analog resolver. Each DDS controller features a communication module. The communication module installed on the DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW is SERCOS, which is a standard for real-time serial communication over fiber optic cables. Advanced versions of SERCOS, known as SEROCS III, are fully compatible with 100 Mbps Ethernet. SERCOS supports 2 Mbps and 4 Mbps data rates. The nodes on a SERCOS network are connected in ring topology. The main benefit of this topology is redundancy: communication is not affected by a single SERCOS node failure or a cut/break at a single fiber location. The firmware for the DDS02.2-W050-BE56-01-FW controller is ordered separately. The controller is meant to be professionally installed.
