These high-speed spindle motors are typically used as rotating direct drives with axial coupling to machines or machine units like spindle units or tool turrets. They are characterized by an asynchronous motor kit, a precision spindle bearing arrangement, an optional hollow shaft for tool cooling lubricant, and a high-resolution motor encoder.
The ADS112C-B05TB1-ASL3-A2K4 is equipped with a standard Indramat spindle encoder which gives feedback to the control unit about the direction and speed of the spindle. It has a rated power of 20A and a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm. The motor is equipped with a temperature sensor which prevents irreversible damage by thermal overload. The temperature sensor is connected through the power cable or the encoder cable, depending on the drive controller in use. This motor requires permanent cooling via an external liquid cooling system. In addition to the temperature sensor, the liquid cooling system limits damage by thermal overload.
The connections and terminals of the ADS112C-B05TB1-ASL3-A2K4 are protective extra-low voltage according to international safety standards, and they protect against electric shock. It has an Ingress protection rating of IP 54. With this protection rating, it is fully protected against penetration of solid objects and water jets from any angle; it is partially dustproof. The motor housing is supplied with sealing air to prevent contamination and maintain the protection rating. For optimum performance, it should be operated at ambient temperature between 0°C and 45°C.
