Product Description
AC motors convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. As the applications requiring motors become more sophisticated, the need for accurate position and speed control for motors becomes more apparent. For this reason, Rexroth Bosch has dedicated its resources to developing several AC servo motor series that have built-in encoders for fine position and speed control.
One of these motor series by Rexroth is the 2AD motor series. The 2AD motor series consists of large motors that can be operated over a wide speed range. The distinct feature of the 2AD motor series line is its air blower fans. Unlike other motors, which rely on natural convection for cooling, the 2AD motors come with blower fan units. In particular, a specific motor model from the 2AD motor family line is the 2AD101D-B05OB2-BS13-A2N1. This motor model has an electrically engaged holding brake that can halt a maximum torque of 30 Nm. The holding brake of this motor model takes a supply voltage of 24 V and achieves a maximum braking energy of 20,000 Ws. The holding brake’s moment of inertia is 0.0007 kg (m^2), while the rotor’s moment of inertia is 0.028 kg (m^2). Using the moment of inertia of the rotor and the brake, the maximum braking speed, given a particular load, may be derived. For a detailed computation, visit Rexroth’s manual for 2AD motors.
The 2AD101D-B05OB2-BS13-A2N1 has a rated power of 9.5 kW, a rated torque of 60 Nm, and a rated speed of 1500 rpm. For some applications requiring a very high motor speed, the 2AD101D-B05OB2-BS13-A2N1 can reach a maximum speed of 9000 rpm, at the cost of lower torque output.
