ZS1090-1006 is an M8 field plug assembly for industrial automation solutions. It is a product of Beckhoff Automation. The assembly is made of metal and has a metallic color. Its protection class is IP67: it is dust-tight, providing complete protection against dust, and it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Devices with an IP67 rating are used in environments where they can be exposed to dust and moisture, and provide robust protection against solid and liquid ingress. The assembly works with EtherCAT and fieldbus network cables. The assembly provides shielding and its installation size is M8. Contact type on the ZS1090-1006 is male with 4 pins for connectivity. The maximum wire cross-section should not exceed 0.5 mm2 (AWG 20). The maximum output diameter of the connecting cable can range from 4.9 to 6.5 millimeters. Length of the assembly is 47 millimeters and its diameter is 14 millimeters. A simple process must be followed to connect the assembly to a cable. The first step is to slide the clamping nut, cable seal and housing over the cable. The second step is to remove the cable jacket and strip the cable to the required length. Then the stripped wires can be inserted into the holes till the end stop. Care must be taken to ensure the wire strands don’t stick out. After that, fix the M2 screw with the appropriate hexagon wrench (the recommended tightening torque is 0.1 Nm). The mount the housing nut, slide the cable sealing into the assembly housing and mount the clamping nut.
