The incremental encoder M-3120 004 is designed for connection to the II/O-Lightbus system. The model provides seamless communication for four incremental encoders. The M-3120 series encoder features a triple power supply configuration with an independent logic voltage of 5 V and additional options for 5 V and 15 V for pick off supplies. The encoders can be connected either with or without complementary channels. It supports both 5 V DC and 15 V DC with a maximum current of 1 A and its connections are resilient to short circuits. The pick off connections are established via a D-SUB connector supporting channels A, A(inverted), B, B(inverted) and C, C(inverted). The encoder input operates with 24 V DC at 10 mA and recognizes input levels from 0 – 8 V as low and 15 – 24 V as high with an input delay of 0.1 ms thanks to its integrated RC filter. The module features a 24-bit binary counter and a limiting frequency of 1 MHz.

The incremental encoder M-3120 004 is built to withstand harsh environments with an aluminum housing. Its dimensions are 170 x 76 x 68 mm and it weighs 560 g. The model’s squareness decoder evaluates signals in 1x, 2x or 4x intervals and the zero impulse latch operates with 24-bit precision. The data transmission rate reaches 2.5 MBaud and offers a fast response rate of 25 microseconds for a 32-bit transmission. The module connects via fiber optics with a maximum distance of 600 meters for glass fiber.
