Product Description

The KL5001-0018 belongs to the high-performance encoder interface modules from Beckhoff, part of the famous KL Analog Input Series. The module offers 1 encoder interface. It is designed to be flexible and comes equipped with a universal adapter of compatibility with an encoder of any kind.

The module can be powered from the KL5001-0018 by means of a connection to 24 V DC via power contacts, thus making it possible to apply the module in industrious settings. The mean current consumption is 20 mA without encoder and, depending on adding an encoder through the power contacts, reaches 20 mA + load. Powering of encoder with 24 V DC has also been made easier by the module so that the space occupied by additional power supplies can be minimized. The data transfer rates will be variable for the basic transfer rates of up to 1 MHz in default, though a lower rate of 250 kHz can be used to achieve high-speed communication, which is essential for most real-time applications.

The serial input of KL5001-0018 uses a 24-bit width to provide for long data word handling. The output and input signal use a difference signal, which in turn, ensures good quality noise immunity and reliability. The current the K-bus consumes is generally 25 mA; therefore, it is energy saving. For the process image, the bit width is equal to 1 x 32-bit data, where an optional field 1 x 8-bit control / status can be applied. The module weighs approximately 60 g and therefore is light in weight and compact. It operates efficiently within the range of –25 to +60°C, though it can be stored in a range of –40 to +85°C.
