For industrial applications, Beckhoff's KL1498 from the KL Analog Input Series is a premium and incredibly adaptable module.

This unit's ground-switching design and one-wire connecting interface increase its adaptability to a range of operating environments. With voltage tolerances ranging from -15% to +20%, the KL1498 has eight inputs and runs on a nominal 24V DC. Its voltage range of 18 to 30 V for a "0" signal and 0 to 7 V for a "1" signal improves the quality of signal processing. The 0.2 ms reaction time of the input filter serves to improve the quality of signal interpretation by lowering noise interference. The input current for the module is normally 3 mA hence the power consumption is low while the efficiency is high. The current drawn from the K-bus is about 5 mA and the current from the power contacts is typically about 2 mA plus load, which also shows that this design is energy efficient. The process image adopts an 8-bit width for each of the eight inputs to provide a comprehensive data mapping and transfer mechanism.

The KL1498 model has a weight of approximately 55 grams and is considered to be compact, yet durable; it is intended for use in the temperature range of 0 to +55 °C and can be stored at temperatures ranging from -25 to +85 °C. This module meets the requirements of EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27 for vibration and shock, as well as EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4 for EMC for immunity and emission, which makes it suitable for use in the industrial environment and other conditions with EMC and physical stress.
