Product Description
EP1918-0002 is an EtherCAT box. It is equipped with 8 digital input channels. The box is a TwinSAFE component from Beckhoff Automation. TwinSAFE is a safety technology designed for use in industrial automation systems. It integrates safety-related functions into standard EtherCAT networks, allowing for the seamless communication of safety and standard data. TwinSAFE supports various safety protocols and provides features like safety I/O modules, safety controllers, and the ability to implement safety functions directly within TwinCAT, Beckhoff's automation software. Beckhoff has designed the EP1918-0002 box for interfacing sensors that have 24 Volts DC potential-free contacts. Special features available on the box include integrated TwinSAFE logic, maximum 128 safe connections, granular test pulse configuration, and 8 safe inputs. The box can be used as a safety controller.
EtherCAT bus interface on the box is in the form of two M8 sockets that are shielded. The inputs on the box connect via M12 sockets. The box provides a link between safe input and output signals. Fault response time on the unit is less than or equal to the watchdog time. The watchdog time can be parameterized. The box supports installation in various installation positions. Its protection rating is IP67, which means that the enclosure is completely dust-tight and the unit can withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes without water ingress. With this protection rating, the EP1918-0002 box can be deployed in harsh environments and challenging conditions. Dimensions of this full-featured EtherCAT box are 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters. Polyamide is used for construction of the box enclosure. Polyamide is used due to its strength, durability, and resistance to abrasion.
