Product Description
EP1908-0002 is an industrial EtherCAT box. It is equipped with eight channel digital input rated for 24 Volts DC. It is designed for use with sensors that have potential-free contacts. The inputs support fail safe operation. Input signals are sent to a TwinSAFE component where they can be evaluated for safety. The EP1908-0002 box has parameters that adapt to functionality required by the application. Several safety features are available, including eight safe inputs, cross-circuit detection, standstill monitoring, individual channel testing, and 1 vs 2-channel evaluation. The EtherCAT bus interface on the box is through two M8 sockets that have 4-pins and are shielded. Connection for the input channels is through 5-pin M12 sockets that are a-coded. The box typically requires 5 milliseconds to read input or to write to the bus.
The fault response time is less than the watchdog time (which is parameterizable). Operators can use variable installation positions for the EtherCAT box. Its approximate weight is 170 grams. Beckhoff has provided the box with a robust housing made of PA6 polyamide. Its IP65 protection class ensures dust ingress protection and water ingress protection. With robust protection, the box can be used for a variety of applications and in a range of environments. The compact box measures 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters and has two mounting holes for use with M3 screws. Color of the box is yellow. It complies with multiple safety standards, including EN ISO 13849 and EN 61508. EN 61508:2010 is a European standard that outlines the functional safety of electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic safety-related systems. It provides a framework for the lifecycle of safety-related systems, covering everything from concept and design to implementation, operation, and decommissioning.
