Product Description
EP1809-0021 is an EtherCAT box from Beckhoff Automation. The box is designed to connect digital sensors to controllers on high-speed EtherCAT networks. The box is equipped with 16 digital inputs. Status of signals connected to the box is displayed on onboard LEDs. Power supply for the sensors is delivered by the box. An onboard power driver supplied total 0.5 Amps for all connected sensors. Each input has a 3 millisecond filter. Therefore, the box is highly suited to electronic and mechanical digital inputs due to additional signal debouncing. Bus interface on the EP1809-0021 box are two M8 4-pin sockets with shielding. The digital inputs connect to the box through 3-pin M8 connectors. Nominal input voltage for the EtherCAT box is 24 Volts DC. The allowed input voltage tolerance is -15%/+20%.
Delay of the onboard input filter is 3 milliseconds. For the digital inputs, -3 to +5 Volts correspond to binary 0 signal level and 11 to 30 Volts correspond to binary 1 signal level. The box draws approximately 130 milliseconds from the power supply. Electrical isolation of 500 Volts provides addition safety for operating equipment and personnel. This high-performance box weighs approximately 250 grams and its approximate dimensions are 60 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters. The polyamide box housing complies with IP65 protection category. Two fixing holes on the unit have 4.5 millimeter diameter and are compatible with M4 mounting screws. Shock and vibration resistance of the box complies with EN 60068. The EMC immunity of the box complies with EN 61000. CE marking and UL approval are testament to the rigorous testing and certification the box has gone through before becoming available for deployment.
