Product Description
EP1258-0001 is an EtherCAT box. It has eight input channels that accept digital signals. The box is designed for interfacing digital sensors with industrial controllers connected to industrial EtherCAT networks. Two of its eight digital inputs support timestamps. Timestamps help to identify the instant of the last edge change with 1 nanosecond resolution. The benefit of this technology is that is allows signal tracing over time for synchronization with distributed clocks. This technology replaces older technology that required network-wide wiring for synchronization. As a result, installation costs and troubleshooting costs reduce significantly, leading to effective operation and higher profits. The box has two M8 sockets for the bus interface. The 8 digital input connections are via a 3-pin M8 socket. The nominal input voltage for the box is 24 Volts DC.
Input filter on the box has a 10 microsecond delay. Voltage levels from -3 to 5 Volts correspond to a binary 0. Voltage levels from 11 to 30 Volts correspond to a binary 1. The specified input current for each digital input is 3 milliseconds. The specified distributed clock precision is less than 100 nanoseconds. The EP1258-0001 EtherCAT box supplies sensors from the control voltage with a total current of 0.5 Amps. The sensor circuits are short-circuit proof. The specified resolution timestamp is 1 nanosecond. Electrical isolation between circuits provides safety for personnel and equipment. Mechanical specifications of the EP1258-0001 box include 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeter dimensions are 165 grams weight. A robust polyamide housing with IP65 protection protects internal circuits and allows box installation in a range of operating conditions and environments. The box is approved by ATEX and UL and is CE certified.
