Product Description
EP1122-0001 is an EtherCAT box. It is designed by Beckhoff Automation for deployment of EtherCAT networks with star topology. EtherCAT was developed by Beckhoff Automation, and has been an international standard since 2007. EtherCAT is designed with a master/slave architecture. The master device controls the network by sending commands to slave devices and receiving data back. EtherCAT networks can be configured in many different topologies, including star and ring. The EP1122-0001 box has two EtherCAT interfaces. Modular EtherCAT star networks can be deployed by using multiple EP1122-0001 boxes at a location. EtherCAT network strands or individual devices can be connected to the EtherCAT ports on the box. M8 sockets on the box provide EtherCAT connectivity. These sockets provide link and activity status via LEDs. A RUN LED on the box provides status information of the EtherCAT box.
EtherCAT master units or TwinCAT units can be used to couple or uncouple EtherCAT strands connected to the box. The nominal voltage rating of the box is 24 Volts DC. Beckhoff recommends high-quality EtherCAT cable as the data transfer medium. The maximum distance between EtherCAT stations on the network is 100 meters. EtherCAT networks can support 100 Mbps data transfer rates. Weight of the junction box is 165 grams. It is made of sturdy polyamide material and provides IP65 compliant ingress protection. With this excellent protection, the box can be used in environments where equipment with inferior levels of ingress protection cannot be used. Two fixing holes on the unit enable mounting with M3 size screws. Diameter of each of these holes is 3.5 millimeters. Dimensions of the EtherCAT junction box are 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters.
