Product Description
EP1008-0002 is a high-performance industrial EtherCAT box from Beckhoff Automation. The box is approved by CE, UL, and ATEX. CE marking indicates that the box meets European Union (EU) safety, health, and environmental protection standards. UL approval means the box has been tested and certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a global safety science organization. ATEX approval is a certification for equipment and protective systems used in environments with a risk of explosive atmospheres, such as those containing flammable gases, vapors, or dust. The EP1008-0002 box is equipped with eight digital inputs. These can be connected to sensors that provide 24 Volts DC nominal voltage. Input voltages between -3 and 5 Volts correspond to a binary zero. Input voltages between 11 and 30 Volts correspond to a binary one.
The EP1008-0002 box provides an interface between the connected sensors with digital output and higher level control systems on the EtherCAT network. Connections for the inputs are via M12 screw connections. LED indicators provide indication of the sensor signal status. The inputs can accept a 3 milliamps input current. The box supplies sensors from the control voltage. Maximum 0.5 Amps is available for each sensor’s power. The optimal operating temperature for the box is -25 to 60 degrees Celsius and the recommended storage temperature is -40 to 80 degrees Celsius. A robust housing made of polyamide provide strong IP65 level ingress protection. This rating indicates the housing is impervious to dust. It is also safe from low-pressure water jets. As a result, operators can deploy the box in adverse operating conditions. Weight and dimensions of the box are 165 grams and 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters.
