Product Description
The EL6201 is an AS-Interface master terminal manufactured by Beckhoff Company. It enables the direct connection of AS-Interface slaves. They can either be digital or analog slaves. This AS-Interface is preferred by many factories because it is a cost-effective solution. It allows economical, simple, and reliable networking of binary sensors and actuators. Assembly of this AS-Interface is through a process known as piercing technology (or click-and-go method) based on the use of an AS-i cable, which has two cores and is protected against polarity reversal.
The advantages of using this method include a straightforward connection method, simple connection of modules and sensors, transfer of data and energy via one cable, and secure contacting. The cable has an IP67 protection class and can be mounted in any place. With this AS-i cable, you do not need to strip the insulation or cut to length. The EL6201 comes with two status LEDs, namely the Run and Power LED. The operator should use connections (cables and plugs) specified by Beckhoff. Due to automatic cable detection, cross-over cables can be used to connect EtherCAT devices.
The EL6201 AS-interfaces comes in three versions namely V 2.0, V 2.11, and V 3.0. Its technical data includes one AS-interface channel, 31 slaves in V 2.0 and 62 slaves in V 2.11. The slave types can be standard, analog or extended. Diagnostics in this AS-i occur in case of slave failure, power failure, or parameterization fault. This terminal’s electrical isolation is 500 V, supply voltage for its electronics is via E-bus, and configuration through TwinCAT. It weighs approximately 55 g and measures 15mm x 100mm x 70mm (W x H x D). The ambient conditions for this device include an operating temperature of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature of -25 to 85 degrees Celsius.
