Product Description
The EL3314-0090 is an EtherCAT terminal designed by Beckhoff Automation for the accurate measurement of temperature and resistance. The product can be directly connected to four thermocouples, which are directly operated according to the 2-wire connection technique. Unlike conventional measurement devices, this product features a microprocessor that handles linearization across the whole temperature range, which can be freely selected by the operator. There are also special Light Emitting Diodes that help operators carry out diagnostic operations by communicating the signal status and indicating any broken wire. Compensation for cold junction is also made through the use of an internal high-precision temperature measurement on the terminal. The EL3314-0090 features a TwinSafe SC technology, which makes it possible to use standard signals for safety tasks in any networks for field buses.
The EL3314-0090 can be configured through the TwinCAT system manager; the width in the process image produced by the terminal is 16 bytes for input, and about 8 bytes for outputs. Also there are no distributed clocks on this product. The permissible ambient temperature range during the operation of the terminal is between -25 to about 60 degrees Celsius; also, the product should not be used in an environment where relative humidity does not exceed 95 per cent. Also, condensation should be avoided around the product.
The EL3314-0090 belongs to the IP20 protection class, it also conforms to the EN 60068-2-6 vibration and resistance level. It also belongs to the EN 61000-6-2 EMC immunity level. The mean time before failure of the terminal exceeds 1,000,000 power on hours at an operating temperature of about 55 degrees Celsius. The total weight of the terminal is about 60 grams.
